Can I do yoga if I am overweight?
Yes. Yoga is for every body, of every size. You do not need to lose weight first to start, nor have a "gym body". Poses adapt with props and more accessible versions, and practicing at home, in your own space, removes the pressure of mirrors and other people watching. The focus of yoga is your relationship with your body and your breath, right where you are today.
The practice adapts to you
Blocks, cushions, a chair and a wall create space and give support in any pose.
Movements can be done standing, seated or lying down, depending on your comfort.
In a live class, the teacher offers the right variation for your body.

Does yoga make you lose weight?
Yoga is not a high calorie-burning activity, and weight loss is not the focus of the practice. What many people report is a more conscious relationship with their body, sleep and food over time. If your goal is to lose weight, it is worth combining it with professional guidance.
Will I be able to keep up with the class?
Yes. In beginner classes the pace is calm and everyone does the version they can. Practicing at home, with your camera however you prefer, makes the start lighter.
